Organizing your work area, pro-level

Are these enough Skavven for AoS?
Happy New Year, everyone! ZeroNyne here. Yes, I've been pretty much off this blog for about 9 months. Real life is hectic, and as is natural sometimes, the blog started to fall away. But no longer will this site be neglected! The goal is two posts (or more) per week. Since I don't really consider relinking or sharing someone else's blog as a post, I'll have my work cut out for me in the new year.

So, have you made any resolutions? I have.

Hive Zero Epic Giveaway!

This is the dumbest graphic I've ever created.
So in "honor" of Games Workshop discontinuing all of their Specialist Games, I've decided to pack it in and give away my small collection of Epic-scale Space Marines. [READ ON]

Zeronyne's Photo Contest 2013, part 2...the winners.

So couple weeks ago I ran a small contest:

Terrain Tale Photo Contest

Simple rules. Essentially, take a picture of your fully realized gaming board. Any system, almost any size. And the prizes? Well, read the linked post above. They're not exactly a Realm of Battle or new airbrush and compressor, but then again, I'm not an FLGS or BoLS.

So the winners are... [click to see]

Zeronyne's Photo Contest 2013, part 1

Will someone build this for me? (credit Lord Ashram's House of War)
I need your help, and I'm willing to give away some stuff for your time. Granted, these aren't the most coveted items in existence, but they aren't exactly throwaways, either.

I'd like you to take a picture of your FULLY REALIZED gaming table for me. And by "your" table, I mean the table where you most often game (basement, FLGS, etc), the caveat being that it must be fully finished...no dining room tables with a mat. I'm not dissing that style of play in any way, but I'm looking for inspiration. [read more]

And the ACTUAL winner is...

I am a complete clown shoe. I set conditions for my giveaway contest, and then read from the wrong rules as I lamented people not reading the rules.

So may I present to you the winner of the contest: Faolain

Faolain submitted his Brother Claudio from Space Hulk.

From Faolain:
The Space Hulk figures are full of detail.  I picked Brother Claudio to paint first because of the three close combat guys, he looked the easiest.  I used contrasting colors on the claws to make them stand out, red armor versus green claws.  The freehand on the knee and pauldron was exceptionally difficult.

Congratulations to Faolain. Check out his blog, and stay tuned for another contest this week! Hopefully, this time there will be more contestants than prizes!

And the Winner Is...

EDIT: I am a moron. Read the comments to find out why. But I am still surprised that there would only be one entry...

OK, so I'm a bit incredulous at the lack of responses to the contest, but hey, I tried, right? I was giving away two copies of Death Angel: Space Hulk by Fantasy Flight Games, including shipping. All you had to do to enter the contest was to follow this blog, send a picture of a single Blood Angel or successor Troop miniature, and a brief note stating how you painted it. That was it.

I got a total of ONE entry, and that one's picture was a TERMINATOR!

Sigh. I guess the card game was not so desirable. Stay tuned for something different.

Giveaway Elsewhere

Hot Panda is hosting a giveaway over at The Chaos Manifesto and the monetary value of the prize is directly dependent upon the number of new subscribers. So head on over!

GIVEAWAY CONTEST UPDATE

OK, People. I've actually procured a second copy of Space Hulk: Death Angel to give away! So two lucky subscribers will win a copy of this great cooperative card game.

But first, there needs to be entrants! Come on, folks. All you have to do to enter is 1) follow this blog, and 2) send a picture of your favorite painted troop B.A. to zero@chemist.com with a blurb about how you painted it (and your contact info). That's it! You can do it! I will post the pictures and your blurb here.

Shipping to anywhere is included, so there is no investment at all except for your time. And I will not use your email address for any commercial purposes, nor will I sell it blah blah blah.

There are NO entries so far, so you have a very good chance of winning. :)

On another note, my goal to finish my Blood Angels takes another small step forward with a bike:

Obviously, it needs a bit of touch up, but I'm generally happy with how this turned out. I have two more bikes that I got on trade with this one, but I just discovered that one sprue is missing the marine! What are the chances of me finding one of those on a bitz site?

A MASSIVE(ly small) GIVEAWAY CONTEST!!

Well, after an ambitious false start attempting the Angels Sanguine halving scheme, I took a mental inventory and decided to reboot by utilizing a "normal" tabletop standard Blood Angel scheme and setting a realistic schedule for myself with incremental rewards.

I'd like to introduce to you my first completely painted Tactical Squad!

I'm not going to base any of them until I am completely finished painting my Blood Angels, and I still need to apply decals or paint insignia, but the paint is completed. This first milestone has been reached only a few days behind schedule, and I've decided that the first reward should go to one of you!

The Tiny Giveaway
I have decided to give away a copy of Death Angel by Fantasy Flight Games:
Space Hulk: Death Angel - The Card Game is a cooperative card game set in the grim darkness of Warhammer 40,000. Players must work together as an alien menace threatens to devour their hopes of survival. If all Space Marines perish, the players collectively lose. Likewise, if at least one of the surviving Space Marines completes the objective, the players all win!

Interesting, huh? Well, you could win this brand new, sealed item, including shipping just by entering.

This game only costs about $20.00 US, so I'm not going to assign some crazy task to enter this contest. Here is how you enter and win:

1. Become a follower of this blog.
2. Take a picture of your best single Blood Angel (power armor or terminator) troop, elite, or devastator miniature. No vehicles, dreads, fast attack or HQs. Make sure you have a small piece of paper that has the date and "hivezero.com" written on it clearly visible in the picture.
3. Write at least a few sentences about what you like about the model and how you painted it.
4. Email your pictures and words to zeroATchemist.com.

A small panel of judges, including myself and at least one minor 40k Internet celeb will judge the pictures and declare a winner. Anything you send to us will be considered free to publish. You retain all rights to the picture unless other arrangements are made.

If I have to, I will post all the necessary legaleze, but I'm hoping that this will be a simple thing. Send me pretty pictures, and one of you will get a card game.

I look forward to your entries! Deadline: September 30th, 11:59pm Central Time.

Super Blog Chain Giveaway

Well, what can I say. I am speechless at this incredible thing the 40k community is doing. Schnitzel over at What Makes the Green Grass Grow chose yours truly to win a razorback. Thank you, Schnitzel! Now it's my turn...

What is the Super Blog Chain Giveaway?
The fellows over at Santa Cruz Warhammer got the ball rolling in an effort to foster folks in our community reaching out and seeing what other blogs have to offer as well extending a helping hand to fellow gamers.
Want to participate?
If you want to win a prize of your own and join this Give-Away, go comment on this blog. The rules of the give-away are as follows:

  2. you must have something worthwhile to offer up to give away for free.
  3. if you win, you must hold your own blogsite giveaway using the same rules to pay it forward.
  4. you must contact us with a link to your give away so we can send bloggers to your site.
  5. you may only enter once per give away.
To Enter:
  1. leave a comment to this post as follows.
  2. 1st sentence, why you need the prize.
  3. 2nd sentence what you will give away on your blog to pay it forward.
I will choose the winner based on how convincing they are and what they offer to the next winner.

What’s in it for you?
The winner will receive two items: a Tyranid Zoanthrope and a Tyranid Lictor, both still in their blisters. I will ship them free of charge. Tell me the reason why you want it and how you plan to put it to use. I will choose a winner based on a combination of what you are offering and how convincing you were on Monday, June 7th, 2010.

I hope you will take this opportunity to help grow this tight knit community of which I am still a newcomer. You can win about $40.00 worth of stuff! By the way, in case you're wondering, I bought these to convert to a Doom of Malantai and Deathleaper, respectively. As you can tell by this blog, though, by the time I get through painting the stuff left on my bench, they will probably have new plastic models out for both  :)

So enter soon, and good luck! If this is fun, I'm considering doing one once per month with modified conditions.
