They are truly my favorites.
For IG I really enjoyed Gunheads, as it carried the fluff for armoured companies pretty well.
For Space Marines the Ultramarines-Trilogy was also nice, though the last of the three was... strange and should rather be ignored.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2100642048696971643.post-72413856056424173052012-01-20T04:32:03.343-06:002012-01-20T04:32:03.343-06:00You pretty much hit the nail on the head for why I...You pretty much hit the nail on the head for why I love the 40k lore. Though you put it in a far more descriptive and elegant manner than I could have. =PL Witha Zhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16089402505678172242noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2100642048696971643.post-17748666865895895562012-01-16T17:55:05.972-06:002012-01-16T17:55:05.972-06:00I like the pure intensity of the most in depth det...I like the pure intensity of the most in depth detail of the grotesqueness! Sometimes reading it can almost make you nauseas from the descriptions of the rancidity an putridity of the gruesome scenes of death or the possessed. The bilious nastiness of Nurgle subordinates, and the gravity of the dismsmbered and blown apart. I am not a SM fan myself. I gravitate toward the DE, IG, and Tau. I really feel that the fluff is actually the most redeeming aspect of 40k! Up until this point I left the game as the rules were purely pathetic, and unrealistic strageically! I have yet to play the newest edition, but I am currently working on a DE force to get back into it so that I can find some regular gaming, as much of what I like is not widely played.

As far as universes with a great deal of sound and just amazingly expansive story, Battletech! Not necessarily the novels, but the sourcebooks and universe as a whole.benjamin_starkeyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15213836060336770163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2100642048696971643.post-32522215294891415322012-01-16T16:26:48.224-06:002012-01-16T16:26:48.224-06:00You may want to start with "Let the Galaxy Bu...You may want to start with "Let the Galaxy Burn", which is an anthology. Or get the Eisenhorn or Ravenor Trilogies. They are long, but they will give you a more expansive view of the 40k universe.Zerohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01835692989146152150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2100642048696971643.post-85014228213770664002012-01-16T15:42:42.268-06:002012-01-16T15:42:42.268-06:00I'm about to start playing 40K ( maybe, haven&...I'm about to start playing 40K ( maybe, haven't decided yet ) and became interested in the fluff. I picked up Salamander late last year, and I just can't make it very far into the book. I don't know if it's poorly written, or if I find it uninteresting. I'll probably try again soon, but I'm disappointed, and I really was hoping I would like the fluff.Zanazazhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04980968371007703230noreply@blogger.com
